Your Guide to Safe and Effective Stretching
Ready to start your stretching journey — or looking to go deeper? Choosing the right toy makes more difference than most people expect. The wrong material, wrong shape, or wrong softness can slow your progress or cause unnecessary discomfort. The right toy makes everything easier.
We've spent 5 years making custom silicone stretching toys — over 800 pieces, many of them built around very specific needs and sizes. This guide is based on what we've learned from real customers, not from product descriptions.

The Best Material: Why Platinum Silicone is King 👑
When something goes inside your body, material safety is super important. You'll see many toys out there, but for stretching, there's one clear winner: 100% platinum-cured silicone.
- Body-Safe & Non-Porous: Platinum silicone is safe for your body. Its smooth surface doesn't hold onto germs, making it very clean and easy to wash. This really lowers your risk of infections. ✨
- Strong & Lasting: Unlike cheaper toys, platinum silicone is made to last. It won't break down, crack, or get sticky over time, so your money is well spent.
- Hypoallergenic: It's a great choice if you have sensitive skin or allergies.
- Colors: Make sure any colored toys use safe pigments or special mica powders so they stay body-safe. 🌈
What to avoid: Stay away from toys made from "jelly," PVC, or unknown "TPR" or "TPE" materials. These can be porous, break down, have bad chemicals, and are almost impossible to clean well. 🚫
The Right Softness: Why Softer is Better ☁️
For stretching, softer silicone is usually best. Toy softness is often measured on the Shore scale.
- Shore A-05 to 00-30: This range means very soft to super soft silicone. These softer toys are perfect for stretching because they can gently squeeze when you put them in. This lets you smoothly try a slightly bigger size than your current opening. Once inside, the silicone wants to go back to its original shape, giving gentle, even pressure to stretch you effectively.
- Less Risk of Injury: Softer toys are more forgiving. They fit your body's shape better, which greatly lowers the chance of tears or discomfort compared to hard toys. 👍
Shape and Design: What to Look For 👀
The shape of your stretching toy is just as important as its material. A well-designed toy will help you progress smoothly and comfortably.
- Secure Base: This is a must, especially for anal toys. A big and solid base stops the toy from going all the way inside, where it could be hard to get out. Safety first! 🚨
- Gradual Widening Shape: The best stretching toy should get wider smoothly and slowly from its tip to its thickest part.
- Tip: The very tip should be easy to put in without force, but not too pointy to avoid irritation.
- Overall Shape: Avoid toys with sudden bumps, sharp angles, or rough textures, especially when you're at your limit. These can cause rubbing or tears. Smooth surfaces are key for easy insertion and removal.
- Good Length:
- Vaginal Stretching: For vaginal stretching, toys are usually 15-20 cm long. Longer toys with very big sizes can be tough for many, which is why at DeepPleasureToys, we also make very short toys even for larger diameters.
- Anal Stretching: Anal toys can often be much longer. For longer toys, it's important that they are flexible so they can fit your body's natural curves and movements.
- Best Cross-Section: Most stretching toys are round or oval. Round is common, but many people find oval shapes super comfy and effective because they fit better with how the body is shaped.
Types of Stretching Toys: Find Your Perfect Match 🎯
Different toy designs work for different stretching styles.
- Cones (Tapers): These are the simplest stretching toys, getting wider from tip to base. They're great for stretching bit by bit. You just put them in as deep as feels good, letting the wider part of the cone apply pressure. A totally smooth cone surface is most often used for anal stretching, but it's also good for vaginal use.

- Bulges: These toys have a series of growing "bulbs" with thinner parts in between. This helps you know exactly your current limit ("I can take this size bulb!"), and the thinner parts give a nice "rest spot." They're excellent for active stretching; putting in and then pushing out the bulb is a very effective way to stretch. 💪

- Plugs: These toys are made to go in and stay for longer periods, helping with passive stretching. You can also use them actively.
- Short-term wear: Plugs with a small difference between the biggest part and the neck (the thinner part) are good for shorter passive sessions, like when you're relaxing or playing actively.

- T-Plugs - Long-term wear: These plugs have a more obvious step-up and a special base to make sure they stay in securely during daily activities. They are incredibly effective for steady, long-term expansion.
- T-Plug 4 (4 cm neck difference) – the recommended starting point. A narrow neck that holds easily and creates gentle constant pressure throughout the day. Available in Oval (more comfortable, ideal for all-day and overnight use) and Round (more intense, uniform pressure).
- T-Plug 3 (3 cm neck difference) – the natural next step once T-Plug 4 feels comfortable and no longer challenges you. A wider neck delivers stronger passive stretch, while the T-base still keeps it securely in place during daily wear and sleep. Available in Oval and Round.
- Short-term wear: Plugs with a small difference between the biggest part and the neck (the thinner part) are good for shorter passive sessions, like when you're relaxing or playing actively.

For both short-term and long-term plugs, the cross-section matters: Oval adapts to anatomy and is more comfortable for extended wear; Round delivers uniform pressure and is more effective for intensive stretching training.
-
- Bloop: Our unique shorter plugs without tips are very compact even at large diameters, which can be great for vaginal stretching where length is a concern. 📏

DoubleJoy: This unique toy, which we created, is like half a plug. You put it in, and then you can insert smaller toys next to it (toys you might find too easy on their own or just use for warm-up). DoubleJoy adds volume, making the total size bigger and giving your training a new twist!

- Inflatable Plugs: these plugs can be gradually inflated to increase their size, allowing for very gentle stretching. The advantage is that they can also be pushed out. Their use requires extra care to avoid over-inflation. It is also important to pay attention to the quality of the material.
Lubrication: Your Best Friend in Stretching 💧
Stretching without plenty of lube is a recipe for discomfort and possible injury. Lube isn't just about making things slippery; it's about reducing rubbing, stopping tiny tears, and allowing smooth, pain-free movement.
- Water-Based Lubes: These are the gold standard for silicone toys. They are safe for all materials, easy to clean, and won't harm silicone.
- Silicone-Based Lubes: Generally, try to avoid using silicone lube with silicone toys, as some types can damage the toy's material over time. But if you're using your hand or non-silicone toys, a high-quality silicone lube can be a good option.
- Be Generous: Don't be shy with the lube! Put lots on both the toy and your body. If it starts to dry out during a session, add more right away. Not using enough lube is one of the most common mistakes, leading to unnecessary rubbing and slower progress.

Frequently Asked Questions ❓
- What is the safest material for stretching toys? 100% platinum-cured silicone is the only material we recommend. It's non-porous, hypoallergenic, body-safe, and easy to sterilize. Avoid jelly, PVC, TPR, or TPE materials — these can contain harmful chemicals and cannot be properly cleaned.
- What softness should a stretching toy be? For stretching, softer is generally better — Shore A-05 to Shore 00-30. Soft silicone compresses slightly during insertion, allowing a slightly larger diameter to enter safely, then returns to its shape to apply gentle, even pressure.
- What's the difference between a cone, bulge, and plug for stretching? Cones give gradual, linear pressure and are great for beginners. Bulges let you clearly identify your current limit and are excellent for active stretching. Plugs are designed to stay inside for passive stretching over longer periods.
- Can I use silicone lube with silicone toys? Generally no — silicone-based lube can damage the surface of silicone toys over time. Always use water-based lubricant with platinum silicone toys.
- Why should I consider a custom-made toy? At larger sizes, even a 1–2 mm difference in diameter matters significantly. A custom toy lets you progress in the exact steps your body needs — not the steps a standard size range allows.
